This past week, I had the opportunity to work with an artist that I have admired for years.

She sings with such conviction and she tells a story with her voice. She is the type of artist that makes me fall in love with music every time I hear her sing.

The fact that she is singing one of MY songs means a great deal to me---especially the song she chose to record.

I wrote in at a time I was completely into my feelings. I was questioning my ability to write music + I was wondering if leaving my job as a social worker was the best decision.

Writing that song helped me make it through a rough patch in my life--- and this artist was able to capture the emotion I was feeling in such a masterful way.

I have gone on to write many songs since then, but this particular song is still one of the best + more transparent songs I have EVER written.

I can't wait for you to hear it! I'll share more details soon.

Now on to the week's episode of Nakeia TV.

An email I received from a gym mate inspired this one. It's all pursuing those things that YOU really love.

KEEP

CALM

IT'S MY

BIRTHDAY!!!!

I have finally joined the KEEP CALM revolution! And--- for good cause.

It's my birthday and this year, I have made it a point to REALLY celebrate.

I'm not talking about the pop some bottles---party all night type of celebration (which I have actually NEVER done.)

I'm talking about THIS YEAR--- I am grateful to be in a space where I can be happy about turning a year older. You see I got this thing with aging. I don't like it. I LOVE birthdays. I am just not fond of the aging aspect. I can't tell you what that's about. I should probably seek some help. But for now---today---on my birthday--- I am okay with turning a year older.

So, I am going to celebrate!!

Enough about me.

This week's episode of Nakeia TV is for you. How many times have you been told to look on the bright side of a bad situation? That is something else I don't like---almost as much as aging.

When something has gone wrong, I don't want to feel good about it. I want to change it. But, I understand the thought behind it.

I'm all for positive thinking. But, sometimes feeling good about something that is straight up bad, can hold you back.

Watch this week's video to see what I mean.

Join the discussion in the comments section below. Have you been feeling good about a bad situation for too long? What actions will you take to finally change your bad situation once and for all? I want to hear from you.

Everyone is not interested in developing themselves personally.

I get that (sort of.)

Bills need to be paid + mouths need to be fed. So, most people are less concerned about thriving and more concerned about surviving.

Sometimes when I speak of creating a life you freaking love, I need to explain what I mean. Other times--- I say those same words--- and the person I’m speaking totally gets it.

That’s what happened when I met Kay for coffee the other day.

I actually met Kay, for the first time, last year at a conference and we finally got around to meeting up almost a year later. It took some time to coordinate our schedules but we managed to make it happen and I am so happy that we did.

The day after our coffee date, Kay sent me a wonderful email and asked a really good question.

I immediately thought of you.

Do you know you need to make changes, but have no idea where to start?

Do you want to create a more fulfilling life, but the day-to-day stuff keep getting in the way?

In today’s episode of Nakeia TV, I share some of Kay’s email with you and answer her question. I think you will see some of yourself in Kay.

Check it out!

At some point, you may have been one of those people that thought you didn’t have time to think about personal development or creating a more meaningful life--- you freaking loved.

I intentionally used the phrase--- a life you freaking love--- a few extra times in this video because I was hoping that at some point it would begin to resonate with you, just as it did with Kay.

Doesn’t that sound really exciting?!?

Can you imagine hating your life a little less everyday and loving it a little more?

If you answered yes, try out my approach. Then, be sure to share your progress with us in the comments section below. Remember, I’m building a community here and your comments add value to all of our lives. Friends don’t let friend grow alone---join the discussion! I can’t wait to here from you!
